Obama Derangement Syndrome: How This Particular Game Is Played

Logic sold separately.

There are rules to the Obama Derangement Syndrome game, folks.  The forms must be followed in American political Kanly, and a perfect demonstration is taking place this weekend.  Step The First, we have this tweet, courtesy of pro golfer and ESPN analyst Paul Azinger:

Facts: Potus has played more golf this month than I have: I have created more jobs this month than he has: #Marthasvineyard

Now working for ESPN and not FOX News, the Zinger was told by his employer that this sort of thing was probably not a good idea.  He’s not paid for his political analysis but his golfing analysis, and it’s not like he’s the first guy to get reigned in by a network or even the first analyst to get checked by ESPN for making public comments on Twitter.  That was Step Two, the response:

On Friday ESPN ‘reminded’ Azinger his venture into political punditry violates the company’s updated social network policy for on-air talent and reporters.

“Paul’s tweet was not consistent with our social media policy, and he has been reminded that political commentary is best left to those in that field,” spokesman Andy Hall told Game On! in a statement.

Once again this shows how pervasive Twitter and Facebook have become in the social fabric of America.  In 2011, major corporations have social networking policies.  This goes especially for media companies.

But the way ODS works is to ignore all that logic stuff and go straight for the Obama Hate…and that means Dana Loesch at Big Lie, (and CNN too) who then says this proves Obama is controlling the liberal media bastion of ESPN because Kenny Mayne said something mean on Twitter about Sarah Palin, who is not President of anything and wasn’t immediately flayed alive.  Step Three, The Faux-reakout.

Now the right wing blogs have picked up on this and are demanding that True Real American Patriots boycott ESPN (and watch FOX Sports, right?)  Step Four, The Growing Controversy.

Step Five, How Will Obama Handle This Mess He Created? is of course demanding that the White House “respond to this major controversy” when this “breaking story” is picked up by the rest of the Village.  ESPN analysts will be called in.  You will see Zinger on the TV talking politics.  Sports guys will become talking heads.

Step Six, We Declare Victory Over Obama is I don’t know, a golf summit between Obama and Azinger, and then the RWNM attacks Obama for playing golf again (and POTUS has just proven that all he does is play golf!)

You see how this idiocy works, and yet it’s the predictable news cycle and has been for three years plus now.  Every time.  More than cleaning out Washington of idiot politicians, we need to clean out idiot Villagers.

  1. The best thing to do with a fool is to let him speak.

  2. That person probably just thought he was being ‘witty’(Mommy, Look I made a funny!) I have love/hate response to Twitter. Some people are truly witty and funny but too many just produce brain barf which they should scoop up and put back because: a brain cell is a terrible thing to waste!

  3. Probably got a good response from his boys while he was at the 19th Hole. Seems like the kind of “tee-hee, yuck-yuck” comment that springs forth from such a setting.

  4. I wonder how many people the federal government has hired this month? For that matter, is there some public record of exactly how much golf the president has played?

Not that it matters. I think Aqua Granny has it right. He said it because it sounds witty, not because it was in any way true.

  5. …says the guy who watches/plays/talks about sports for a living.

…Meanwhile, most Americans see President Obama as the guy who’s busy working with military intelligence and Navy Seals to get Osama bin Laden, working with our military and NATO to marginalize Ghaddafy, forcing Boehner and the GOP to control the Tea Party and keep the U.S. from defaulting on its debt, preparing for and responding to natural disasters, etc. And busy Americans, if they hear this ODS crap, shake their heads at the hate-filled, unhinged navel-gazing and feel grateful that at least there’s a sane adult in the White House. But most importantly — busy, moderate, election-deciding American voters see and gain impressions from this crap, and continue to build on their resolve to get rid of foolish politicians who waste our time engaging in and encouraging this silliness instead of solving important problems (i.e., they’re going to sympathize with and reward President Obama for getting tough on Republicans during the run-up to 2012 elections). He’s going to “take it to the Republicans” during campaign season–I’m sure of it. Watch for it–haters on the left will be marginalized and many of them will have their true motivations clearly revealed, whether it’s ankle-biting envy, ego-driven spite, arrogance (thinking they’re smarter, better strategists), childish expectations due to feelings of entitlement, etc.

  6. Nice little example of Repub Opposite World! They should open a theme park….Opposite World: Where up is down, black is white, and war is peace.

President Obama is the hardest working President in several decades based upon vacation days and his preparedness on almost any issue. This is a simple fact…not up for debate.
Repubs: Plays golf all the time, that lazy ass! (what’s funny is that he’s not that good at golf, and is an exceptional basketball player instead)

President Obama’s Admin created more jobs in his 1st year than King Bush II did in his entire 8 years. CBO has said multiple times that Obama Admin policies have saved or created millions of jobs in America SO FAR. This despite constant Repub obstruction and Repubs across the country SLASHING public employee jobs, thereby hurting the unemployment stats, and the economy for that matter. President Obama’s record in creating PRIVATE SECTOR jobs is extremely good compared to Shrub.
Repubs: Some golfer dude says he’s created more job than President Obama, despite President Obama’s good, and getting better record of job creation. Opposite World! And they spread around the lies as if they are facts.

And the list goes on and on…and the MegaMedia NEVER calls out the Opposite World fantasies.

  7. What’s wrong with this sentence:
“CBO predicts unemployment will be above 8.5 in 2012 giving Republicans more ammunition against Obama.”
Think it’s from FOX? Nope – it’s CNN’s Candy Crowley who has recently taken over CNN’s version of a Sunday Talk Show. She was sitting in for John King (as if he’s not right wing enough) when she inserted this hate message into the dialogue.

What’s wrong is that the CBO numbers were based on Tea Party frenzied firings caused by their budget cutting. It was not about Obama’s performance but about the damage done to the economy by the idiot Tea Party. What’s wrong is the right wings insistence on using violent imagery against the first Black President. Ammunition?

They are ALL useless. All all all every single friggin one is useless.

    • Candy Crowley is one of the biggest mediawhore$$$ out there. She carried water for bush and now she’s just carrying for the teabagger-Koch types.

  8. As for Azinger..what an idiot liar. Glad his corporatemaster had to come out and scold him.

  9. I think the main problem with the MSM is that there are too few people left like Walter Cronkite, whose focus was on professionalism, quality journalism and providing an insight into domestic and world politics. Nowadays our airwives are filled with talking heads and pundits with inflated egos which are fed by their endless appearances on the media circuit. Add to that the appearance of social network sites like Twitter and Facebook where these inflated egos have a forum to spew even more of their drivel and you have a recipe for the nonsense you see above

I agree with Aquagranny9/11, Azinger was trying to be funny and -may I add as my own opinion -ended up revealing himself to be the totally egocentric and unfunny jackass he is. I’m actually glad he spewed out this drivel -it reveals his lack of credibility and his stupid unprofessinalism and he has made himself look like the absolute fool that he is in the process

  10. Huh? How did Azinger create 200k jobs all on his own?? Make this guy Sec of Labor, man!
